I was trying to correct my speedometer in my new 2004R transmission. I ordered a 2004R speedometer driven gear and prepared to install it and the tip was too small where it meets the drive gear so I ordered another from another manufacturer and it too was too small. I then took out the driven gear and compared it to pictures of speedometer gears on the internet. It looks to me like it is a GM T5 speedometer gear. Does this make sense to anyone? I would have thought that the only speedometer gears that would work in a 2004R would be 2004R gears. It seems odd to me that the T5 gears would be the gears that I need.
