Hello I have 1979 TA 403 with 71000 original miles on it. I have a rear main seal leaking and I was wondering if it can be changed without pulling the engine. Is this possible?

To remove the sump you'd need to partially lift the engine meaning disconnecting a lot. By that stage it may be just as easy to pull it out even if only partly. There's a few main seal types that can be used, often easily nicked when trying to install with limited access, then you have another leaking main seal only realised when completed

That's kind of what I was thinking and Its a lot of work to pull it but I guess I'll bite then bullet and take the time. Thanks
