My Sons 78 Y88
« on: May 02, 2014, 04:23:04 PM »
My son was looking for a 10th anniversary car when he came across this car. It's in terrible shape and he paid too much but he had to have it.  ::)

Where to start? RUST! RUST! RUST!

I say start with getting it in good and safe running order so he can drive it while saving up for parts.

Re: My Sons 78 Y88 UPDATE

Hi all,
Just a quick update on my sons car. I'm posting because he never got a confirmation e-mail when he tried to sign up??? Maybe a Mod can help?

Anyway. He had an intake manifold leak so ho pulled the carb and manifold. It was amazing how much trash/grunge was laying in the valley pan. We pulled the pan also and it was not pretty considering all the water and trash that was sitting on it. After cleaning it up I found it has some small holes. So, since we don't weld "yet", I may just pick up another one. I've read all the horror stories about used valley pans but we may have no other option for now.
Thanks for all the help and support. Neither of us have any experience so it's going to be fun!
Nice huh?
