I have been tossing around the idea of going black and blue on the interior for mine. The interior needed help anyway and I wasn't too keen on all blue. The PO put the idea in my head and I really like Greenbird's two tone (white and black) interior. It will be two tone for a while as I start to refresh it and we will see how I like it.

Alright, I snapped some quick photos while I was out today...  A little better lighting, but still not the best quality.
I will get some good pictures when I go to the Moab Car Show in April.

Here they are:

Here are some interior shots:

And finally, the engine (I still need to do some clean-up work where the A/C used to be):
Drivetrain Specs:
1971 455 HO
489 HP and 565 ft-lbs of torque
Edelbrock aluminum heads
Crane Cams roller rockers
Edelbrock intake manifold
Holley 770 street avenger carburetor
Hooker Headers long tube headers
Flowmaster Super 44
Holley electric fuel pump
Tremec TKO500 5 Speed w/ Hurst Shifter
Spec Stage 2 Clutch
Custom made aluminum drive shaft
Rebuilt rear-end with 3.73 Richmond gears
thats about all I can think of right now....

WOW!!! Buddy, you have an awesome car there. I thought it was just a sweet body and paint car with some new 17's. Didn't realize the drivetrain and interior. The matte finish bezel is growing on me. I like it. What a well ballanced car and an awesome drivetrain. That car has to honk and be a blast to drive. If you do swap out the carb for an Edelbrock unit, go with a AVS Thunder unit as the original Edelbrock carbs have a hesitation right off idle. I'd be interested in the 770 Avenger if you make the move and decide to part with it. Thanks for sharing your pics and once again, what a sweet car you have there. How long have you had it? Did you get it this way or build it your self. I love to hear the 'build' stories along with everyone else here. Thanks again, Mike

I love how the shaker sits 'proud' in the hood height wise...

you should pop off your air horn on the shaker base and weld in a block off plate you don't plan to use it, open the shaker, makes for a clean look.

ICEMAN - thanks man!  Its definitely a fun little car to drive around.  I've only had it for about a year.  I used to own a stock 1978 TA 400 Auto about 8 years ago I used as a daily driver in High School:

I spent a lot of time just trying to keep the thing running...  So, I wasn't really looking for another car that needed a lot of work.  To be honest, I wasn't really looking to buy a car at all.  But, when I came across this trans am in the classifieds last year, I went down to look at it the very next day.  The general manage of a ford dealership near where I live owned it.  He had one of his mechanics do most of the work on it in-house (other than the engine build).  He had it for a few years but rarely drove it, so decided to sell it.  It was exactly what I was looking for in a car.  I thought about it for a day or so, but caved in the end and bought it.  It is a real pleasure to own and drive around on the weekends.  BUT, there is always something to improve or fix and I still find myself working on it every weekend and whenever I get a chance during the week (the interior needed some work when I bought it, but its getting closer).  I'm actually starting to really enjoy that part now :)  I love your GTO though! Do you have any recent pictures of it or your TA?

Squirrel, hada76 - Shaker is open! I've thought about buying a new base that sits a little lower so the shaker doesn't rub on the hood at all instead of getting a new carb... I think I've seen some references on here in the past about someone who sells them.  It would give it a much cleaner look for sure.  Thanks for the input!

N PRGRES - Thanks buddy!  I painted the bezel a few months ago.. The original bezel was pretty beat up and faded, so i decided to try something a little different before I sent it off to be restored..  I ended up liking it and decided to leave it for the time being.  BTW I got a chance to read through your resto thread, looks real good so far!  I'll be watching for some updates.

Here is a pic of My 76 along with ANGRY76's Black and Blue 76 at a local car show. Forgot the camera that day, so the pics are bad, as I only had a cell phone. I really like the Black with the Blue Bird. Real Nice car!

i think there are two types of edelbrock intakes you can get i got the lower one that is stock height, i guess you have
the higher one and it sits too high now.  that lowering kit is cool but pricey.
