Brings up an interesting question that I have.
If the car was born with a 301 would it be any less valuable if the car were fixed up?
I know the block is not original to the car as its stamped with the YS code.
There is a W in the vin and that leads to me to believe the car was actually born with  a 301 and not a 400.
But the motor is definalty a 400, I just do not know what year.
The number directly under the passenger side head is 020193. I understand the actual block stamp is actually closer to
the timing cover. Im a chevy man what can I say?  ;)

Is there a Y code on he cowl tag? You should probably post all the info on that as well.

this may seem to be  a "tough crowd" but with the rarity of these cars its only natural to try and get the most info poss.   i dont think anyone is purposely trying to be a problem...just getting the facts.   if the seller is unsure of a fact, simply say so.

No, the shaker hood was available with either the non turbo 4.9 liter and the 5.0 liter in 1980 and 1981

Then this really has my curiousity...if this car is a 1981 as implied  with a non turbo 4.9 liter or a 5.0
liter then why would he have 6.6 on the shaker???
Makes no sense to me.. I guess we need to call Rick to find out why he would do such A thing. I have seen
his work and I would not see why he would decieve us like this? I am sorry, I don't buy the car is a 81.
Even the photos are marked 79 spec edition, and I did not change the file names. Is it possible that someone else owns the car?

No. I  never implied that anywhere. I'm not sure if you understand the questioning or the discussion.
Thanks!

So I'm confused? ....

You posted some shots from the Trans Am Specialties Miami site back on reply #16
http://www.transamflorida.com/1981turboSEnumber118.htm

Reply #19 - Lomileta caught the TA specialties post you made and mentioned "Rick"
Reply #22 - I believe you had thought that '81 cars didn't have shakers
Reply #23 - Lomileta also corrected you that '80 & '81 cars came with shaker hoods - you sort of looked stupid there.
Reply #28 - I clarified the issues and sort of pulled your fat from the fire and tried to re-center the discussion to give you the benefit of the doubt.

You've posted the VIN.  It's states it's a 1979 TA, Z coded car (400).  It still has yet to be established that it's an SE ... and you don't know what year the motor is but "the motor is definalty a 400".

How am I doing?

You should definitely get the PHS docs and establish the authenticity of the engine to be above board.

You should also try not to come out of the gate real hard unless you know more than everyone here.

Yes please call Rick  ANd tell him Russ says hi,( Phones:  shop line 1(786 )242.2106  you can also try 1(305)412.5000), and ask him if it is not  an 81, why he would put an 81 gas door on it.  I'll bet you will be surprised when he tells you that it IS an 81 only part .

Correct. So whey they claim it is..not me..

Reply #19 - Lomileta caught the TA specialties post you made and mentioned "Rick"

I was unsure about the shakers.. Excuse me, but its been 30 yrs...
Reply #23 - Lomileta also corrected you that '80 & '81 cars came with shaker hoods - you sort of looked stupid there.
So you can order it with a shaker for any year...thats not to say someone cant put a shaker or a clone of a turbo hood either does it?
Reply #28 - I clarified the issues and sort of pulled your fat from the fire and tried to re-center the discussion to give you the benefit of the doubt.
No harm intended.

Your doing fine. How many PHS documented cars were painted starlight black, T Tops, 400, 4 speed
and NOT real special editions? do we have numbers? id be interested.

You should definitely get the PHS docs and establish the authenticity of the engine to be above board.
Not a problem. Sending for the PHS as we speak.

You should also try not to come out of the gate real hard unless you know more than everyone here.

Ditto.

Shouldn't there be a Y code on the cowl tag if it's an SE from Norwood? It's not there from what you posted. Did you look for the build sheet?
