Auto trans question

I have a question about auto trans gear selection.  Is there supposed to be an orange bar indicating which gear is selected?  Mine doesnt have it, and I cant recall ever seeing one in any t/a I have driven in.

 Nope, no orange bar.

 My '77 Camaro had one between the speedo and tach though, maybe
that's what you are thinking of. It had almost the same console and shifter
too.

 But, TA's no. (77-81)
