Trying to post a short video?
« on: February 05, 2010, 04:12:17 PM »
Windows XP comes with a nice feature that allows you to publish content from your desktop directly to a web service. Follow the instructions below to enable this service on your Windows XP system.

Step 1
Download the configuration file using right-click 'Save Target As...' Once downloaded, rename it to 'install_registry.reg'. If it asks you for confirmation about changing the file type, answer 'yes'. Right click on this file and you should see a menu appear. Select the Merge option (this should be at the top of the menu). It will ask you if you want to import these values into your registry. Click 'Ok'. It will tell you that the files were imported successfully. Click 'Ok' again.
Download [install_registry.reg]

Step 2
Open your Windows Explorer and browse to a folder containing supported images. Select the image(s) or a folder and there should be a link on the left that says 'Publish this file to the web...' Click this link and then follow the instructions to log into your Gallery, select an album and publish the image.

Okay, I did that.  I can add pictures to my gallery doing this, but not this short video I shot.  It says it has been added, but I don't see it?  There must be 4 or 5 video's of my TA in cyberspace right now.  Any help would be appreciated.  By the way, I am not at all computer savvy, so I need very, very basic instructions.

Thanks
Leigh

The easy button, huh?  Never used that.

I deal with file based data.  Go to the website (78ta gallery, photobucket, youtube, etc.) and upload using that interface from your disk.

That info was from the 78ta gallery.  I guess I will have to try something else, just trying to keep all the info here on this site ???  It's not that big of a deal, just a short clip of my car after we got her put back together :)

I know some folks use video.google.com, I've used youtube and there are many others of course.  I know what you mean about keeping it all in one place, I've got stuff spread about as well ...

Hey Brett :), page 7.  I was wondering if my gallery was too full?  I think I have around a 168 pictures in there :)  I will try again, but I'm not having much success?  It appears I am doing everything correctly ::), I will try one more time.

Okay, I did it again.  When it finished there was a box checked that said something to the effect of take me to the gallery or site.  I clicked okay, and sure enough, it takes me to my album in the gallery.  I checked the entire album, but no video.  That makes about 10 that are now floating around somewhere?  I can't figure out what I must be doing wrong?

When it says click "finish", this is the web address.     http://www.78ta.com/gallery2/main.php/v/limey/

Yep, there is my gallery, but I can't find the video?  I don't know if that helps or not?

Thanks

How large is the movie file?  The Gallery limits it to 2mb per file.

There's your problem ... I doubt your video is 2MB.

Yep, that's the problem, much larger than that(111mb).  Oh well, I will get something worked out :)  Can you even have a video that is less than 2mb?

Yes you can, however size and quality suffer.  Compression can only do so much before you're looking at a postage stamp.

Take a look at your huge JPG side view by the park - I'll bet it's almost a 1MB.  A video consists of typically 30 images for one second of video - the number varies and hollywood uses 60+.  Point is, when you start cramming all of those individual frames into one file, the file size is going to skyrocket.  Video has considerably more variables to consider than still images do.

Best bet is to join Youtube or another video hosting site, post your stuff and then link it back to here.

Thanks John.  That makes sense.  I guess I will have to do that.  It really wasn't anything impressive, just a 59 second shot of my TA idling after we put her all back together.  I have an account on Youtube, so maybe I'll put it up over there and link it to Hitman's site.
