I went to the NAIAS or Detroit Autoshow this weekend, and it was very crowded. I didn't take a lot of photos but do have a handful to show. I did talk to the Pontiac folks and thought I'd go ahead and ask the question just to gauge their response -- no Firebird planned and interestly enough no GTO either; when I asked about a RWD performance car, they pointed to the G8 (which I have to admit did look pretty nice, sorry, no pic).

Nice, thanks for the pics Bob! I like the second pic, very cool looking.

Thanks for the pics! Looks like it was a very interesting show. Go figure, GM still hasn't got their heads out of....the clouds on performance for the public.
-
Looks like an interesting time. It seems there is always cool stuff in the wings...but it never makes it to production. Yeah, yeah, I know -- manufacturing considerations and volume calculations and all, but I wonder how many are just killed outright by government regulations (bumper requirements, CAFE, emissions, etc.). ??? ??? Thanks for posting! :) :)

What can you tell us about the Mach 5? Was it there because of the movie?
-
Great pics! thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for the pics. That GT500KR is awesome...WOW. I'd love one of those.

Ya know, the Hx concept reminds me of the Warthog vehicle from the game Halo. It's just begging to have a big freakin' gun mounted behind the front seats...
Is the green Mustang another Bullitt edition car?
Matt

Yes, I believe it is a Bullitt edition. I recently read that it was going to be produced again.
-
The biggest disappointment for me is that there was no Challenger there. I mean come on, the car is supposed to come out soon and this is the DETROIT auto show........no Challenger? Are you kidding me?
I'm sorry that I don't have better pics, but it was really hard to keep an eye on my son and still look at cars. It seemed like it he would be right there and then all of a sudden he wasn't. And with all those crowds, it just kind of stressed me out a bit.

I honestly do not know what the Mach 5 was there, but there was not any promo stuff surrounding the car and it was down stairs in a smaller area so it may have not even gotten a lot of attention.

Yes, Ford is doing another Bullit that is better than the last rendiion and closer to the original 68 car. They are bringing it back out for the 40th anniversary of the Steve McQueen movie.

I've been up to Carlisle three times; two of them for the MOPAR Nationals and the last trip was for the All Ford Nationals. One of these days I'll get up there for the GM show.

There was a ZR-1 at the show but you almost couldn't get up to it because of all the people. I personally think that had to be the most popular car at the show given the crowds around it.

I guess you can say since I live in Carlisle and only a mile from the fairgrounds where they have all the shows I have a FRONT ROW SEAT..lol..but it sure is nice during the summer to see the classics driving around town and smelling that car wax...it just is great...I bet it was the new 2009 Corvette ZR1...it is supposed to be the fasted production built..they just dont have the specs on it yet...I really wish I had the money to travel to that show..one of these years maybe...
