Starter Wiring Orientation Question
« on: July 03, 2010, 07:49:02 AM »
I have a '79 Trans Am with 400 Pontiac and a 4 Speed.  I have a question about starter and ignition wire routing\orientation.  I know what connections\terminals that the wires route to.  I am interested in how the wires should be orientated to prevent issues with rubbing on the heat shield, being too close to the exhaust manifold, etc.  I am amazed at the minimal amount of space in this area.  Every orientation that I set seems to look wrong.  I have reviewed the '78 service mag and I can not orientate the wires per the mag due to size\shape of the wires\wire connections.
If anyone has a picture of the stock orientation, that would be great!  I have no idea if the wires are stock and if extra length & connection design is causing the problem.
