I have no clue what you guys are talking about....
At this point neither do I.  All I was trying to say is:
1. if there is oil present in the new compressor and the warranty says don't put oil in it don't.
2. I'm not a scientist, but this is pretty cut and dry.
3. No more comments on this.

Good Luck!!

Or, you can do what I do and use Freeze 12 instead of R12.
A perfect drop, and only cost about $8.oo a can.
If you going to use an A6 compressor,(original factory style) I HIGHLY recommend it. ;)
Here's the link: http://freeze-12.com/

I just called East West Auto Parts and got a condenser and a compressor from them from a 78 Firebird, so they're on the way. He told me the brackets are about $100 so I'm going to wait on those. Eagle1, this is basically a freon for r12 except it's not so it's legal?

Also, is there anything else I need? I just thought of the accumulator, but I guess I'll just get a new one of those. What else is there?

I believe you may also need a license to buy Freeze 12.
I have got a license, but the Napa store I buy it from they never ask me to see my license, so I'm not sure.

Definately change the accumalotor and you will also need an orfice tube.
The replacement accumator wont look like the original and will come with an extra tube to make it hook up.
I actually took an old original accumator, cut it open and replaced the dececant bag.  Then welded it back together.
There's actually a little more detail's than that, but that's basically how I done it.
A couple of pictures.

So If I can't get a hold of this stuff, how do I go about getting a "license" for it? I guess I'll just buy a new accumulator, I don't care about original look on a/c haha, so reproduction is fine by me. How much for an accumulator?

Accumaltor are not to expensive, $20 or less usually.
Most places wont give you a warranty for the compressor with out buying a accumalator.
You wont like the fit of the replacement one though.

If you have never done ac repair, you probably need to get somebody who has to help you the first time. ;)

BTW, pm sent.

Well then he should be able to get it for you.
You will need 4 cans.   Your system should hold 3 complete cans and just a little of the 4th can.

All right, so I'm basically set. I still need to get the accumulator, the blower motor, the heater core, but everything else I'm good....

Whoa, what about hoses? Do I need to buy a kit or something?

Dont forget the orfice tube, its usually cheap too.
If you dont have the lines, there is place in Florida that reproduces them, but they are not cheap.
What year is your car again?

You can use the old hoses, if you have them.

hmmm....you may want to ask for some ac lines on the "parts wanted" forum.
Finding all the lines may prove difficult.
Sometime in 78, they changed the line configurations too.
The ac muffler was downsized and  moved from the fender well.
Also contact F-body warehouse and see what Pete may have.
I think kentuckyeti (sp?) parts out cars pretty regular on here.
