New mini-starter exposes flywheel
« on: October 11, 2016, 09:10:03 PM »
Hi,
I new to this forum but looking for some advice.  I recently bought a '79 W72 that was having trouble with hot starts so I replaced the old starter with a mini-starter from Summitt.  Works great but due to the smaller size of starter, the original flywheel cover now has a gap leaving the flywheel exposed to the elements. Curious if anyone else has noticed this problem with an aftermarket starter and how they fixed it.  Any help appreciated...
