Engine ID help

I found this VIN number on my engine block. The VIN is 23D152966. The D is throwing me off. Can anyone help me identify this VIN?  I have a 1977 Trans Am SE. The previous owner said it didn't have the original engine. Well someone put a 455 in the car. I finally found the VIN, and I can't find the date code or casting numbers.

Ok, found the codes.  the block code is XA and I guess the numbers above is the casting number. 697387 is the number. I have no idea what that means.
