I am having trouble with my temperature gauge, I can't get it to register the correct temperature. I have replaced the temperature oil pressure gauge but I still can't get it to register the correct temperature. Can anyone give me some advise!

Is this a stock gage....because they never were very accurate. I have a 79 daily driver with a 180 degree thermostat. On hot days in Phoenix (114 degrees) the gage will hold steady at 220 but the water temp is actually about 190.
