Fuel line assistance.
« on: June 14, 2017, 11:57:17 PM »
Ok, Ive searched and searched but havent found the answer im looking for.

Working on my 78 still...last week I pulled the fuel tank and it was done for, along with the fuel sending unit. I already have the new tank, I blew the fuel lines out and they are corroded to hell. Im looking at replacing them with SS lines but then I came across someone using -6AN braided hose.

The motor is a 455 bored 10 over to 465. I have a Edelbrock 1407 750CFM Manual choke. The car originally came with AC but the blower went out. (Im replacing the AC system to be compatible with R134 so it will be air conditioned) What all am I going to need to replace all of my fuel lines. There were 3 coming off the tank. 1 on the drivers side (supply to pump 3/8 or -6AN) from what I gather the other 2 are return and vapor lines.

SUM-PUMPKIT1 will get me to the pump from the tank.
What size is the return line and vapor? Do I need both of them?

Also the fuel sending unit is different if you have AC...it all seems confusing.

Thanks for the help in andvance and Im sorry if these questions have already been answered.

PS, Does anyone know what the AC muffler is ? Google just keeps trying to get me to buy a portable ac unit when i try to search....

Early 78 used this AC muffler coming off the compressor and poking around the corner of the inner fender near the vacuum canister:

It sits on top of this shelf:

Mid 78 up used this type mounted on top of the compressor as part of the manifold mounting hoses (small alloy canister on compressor lines:
