As stated, I wanted to see if I could climb this mountian road in 4th gear.

The torque of this engine is amazing so I thought I'd try it in 4th.  It pulled with no problems at all.

I did downshift once I got over the top on the downhill side to save brakes.

Here is just a short video near the peak........  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgOoe8zumOo

Dang ,I was hoping for some drifting!  :)

lol Why did your GPS tell you to turn left when your only option was to turn right at that moment?

Word of advice doing this.... watch for any wet spot on the road while going into turns... was doing the same thing up a much wider road and maybe a little more grade early in the morning with a little dew on the road, gave it a little more gas about halfway in the turn ( and I do mean a little) and the rear wheels broke traction and I found myself going back down the grade instead of up. Definately put a temporary pucker in the drivers seat.

I've got a GPS in my car too and it does the same thing.  Sometimes it'll even claim ditches are roads.  I swear it's trying to kill me.  But I think it has to do with the useage of the roads.  Smaller roads that are less used have more bugs in them it seems.

My GPS is one of the older ones (no internal HD, only shows maps and doesn't give "directions") but the best use I've found for it is keeping precise track of mileage and telling you your current velocity.  If you don't know roughly where you're going you're not going to get there anyway.  My brother-in-law has one and he never checks directions before he starts out going somewhere.  Consequently, he's spent a lot of time and gasoline finding his way to a few places, and been late to a few events.
