Same here except except that I have to go with the '76.  I may sell mine and get what I really want some day but for now, I'm happy with my '75.

I'm with Hammer and Stimpy on the 76's. I have three now but I'm eyeing up a nice 4th. For some reason I just cannot resist the 76's. Everytime I see one sitting, neglected I feel compelled to buy it. It's almost like Mel Gibson's obsession with "The Catcher and the Rye" book in the movie Conspiracy Theory. His character was Jerry Fletcher



I never liked the nose on the 77/78 cars until I had one fall in my lap that I just couldn't refuse to buy. I bought it just to flip it and ended up really liking the nose on the 77/78 cars.



I agree with Hammer when he said that he likes the single year styling. I've always wanted the one that was a little different. If I had to put them in order of personal preference the list would go like this.

I like the 73 best, and I own a 74.  I like the sailpanels of a pre 75 car and I like the fighter jet nose of the 73.  Smokey and the bandit created a lot of lovers of the Trans Am, and all of those people are going to be hardcore lovers of the 77/78 cars.  Nobody can deny the 77/78 is the icon of the second gen cars.  I had owned my 74 Trans Am for three years when Smokey and the Bandit came out.

I totally agree with this...The 77/78 will always be the iconic car...hell I love my 78 Trans Am. But I think the sailpanel/rear pillow fast back look of 70-74 cars are better looking then the wrap around window. I will agree that it's hard to beat a 70-73 front nose. I still thought the 74 front end looked clean and nice with razor grille's.  I think the 75 grille's were awkward with the parking lights in them and it really took away from the front nose design of the car.  The parking lights have always been below the headlights on every other model.

To me I guess I will always view the 70-76 Trans Am's as more Manly all out grunt muscle cars and I kinda view the 77-81 cars as more luxury T-tops image cars.......I love them all, but thats just kinda the perception I have. :lol:

77-78 is my favorite.  Given an unlimited check book, I would not turn down any year.
