Topic: 1979 dimmer switch on the floor?

I have been readind that they switched the switch from the floor to the column in 79.
Question is that in my forst 79 trans am the switch was on the floor, my current 79 has it on the column.
do you think that some early 79's still had them on the floor?
Wondering why my first one was on the floor?
My dad bought it used back in 82 .
