Clutch??
« on: February 15, 2010, 01:45:48 PM »
Well, just got back from a dealership whom they were recommended to me by a classic car shop.  I told them about my delema with the slipping of the shift and the rear main seal.

The mechanice at the dealership is supposedly their "best" said "sounds to me like the clutch, causing it to slip."

CLUTCH???  WTH??  From shift adjustment, to motor mounts, to now clutch!  I am going out of my mind!  :o

(Mike and Virgil..........Please don't take that the wrong way.  I appreciate everyone's opinion on what this might be.  How I wish both of you were right around the corner to help me and Frank with this)

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the tranny when we brought her home in Nov.  This only started when the 1st shop took everything off.  Then it started to slip!

The car is going in tomorrow morning.  I am waiting with it and will be by the mechanics side watching him.
I will have the evil eye on him at all times. >:D

I learned years ago to never take a car to a mechanic, unless you can trust him.
I would buy a bone yard transmission and have someone you trust put it in.
Transmission shops routinely offer cheap flush and fill jobs, then adjust your transmission to burn up.
6 Months later your paying $1500 for a rebuild.
Life in America.
Hopefully you find a decent mechanic, but it sure isn't easy.

^X2 ... it's about money.  I've done the weekend transmission in my younger years for burgers and beer.  Perhaps a swap meet // car show might help you find the reputable places to take your car.

Road trip Mike?? Then again, Heidi doesn't have a garage so right now we'd be freezing our <fill in d blank> off in the snow.
