You can find the paint codes here:  http://www.78ta.com/paintcode.php

Your local auto paint store can use this info to mix the correct shade for you.

The best paint? You will get varied opinions on that...I myself prefer PPG

Thanks....I was also thinking of using ppg....I just wanted to get the correct information.... Did they make special edition in 1980 that were solar gold....I found a super nice build sheet...I just have not had time to decide it yet..says it has a 3:42 POSI also...

Gold special editions were in '78 only...only black for '80.

Sounds like you got a good deal! Post some pictures when you can ;)

You can find production numbers here:  http://www.78ta.com/production.php
Unfortunately Pontiac/GM didn't break production numbers down by options.

The basic codes have already been posted. The paint guy should be able to track down or arrange to mix the equivalent, it's his job.
