Gents:
In taking apart my tail pan & quarter panels I have found where the factory used at least 3 different sealers or adhesives.
Between the spot welds of the tail pan & the bumper brackets/trunk area I see a red substance.
Between the spot welds of the trunk drop off panel & the outer quarter (low) I found a black almost a foamy type substance .
Then there is a seam sealer liberally applied to the outside of various places where 2 pieces of metal come together, welded or not.
And the undercoating (tar) in the wheel wells.
My question is what are you guys doing when you put these panels together? I plan to drill holes in one panel & weld thru the hole & that will be my "spot weld".
I do plan on using weld-thru primer on all my welded panels. I am just wondering if I need to do more with what I believe are adhesives as from the factory.
Thanks for your time.
