Objective Question Chrome or Gold plate
« on: October 01, 2007, 12:36:17 AM »
OK im dressing up my engine bay and want some input.

As the car is already slighty modified, im making a few tastful enhancements to the engine bay.

I dont want it to be too "Bling" but I do want it to be, a bit show.

The car is a Black and Gold Y84 SE
As an example I will be plating some of the brackets AC, ALT, PS, etc plus a few other little tricks.
I may also sleave some of the hoses with steel braid and fit ferral end covers, currently I have chrome rocker covers and a nice shiney black engine bay.

So what to do here, Do I go traditional Chrome or Gold Chrome ?
My thoughts were Initially chrome, but now im wondering if a should carry the gold accents of the cars colour scheme through under the hood, using gold chrome ?????
For those of you that dont know the car, it already has a polished 24crt gold plated dash bezel and shift plate.

Use the poll above to choose your preference and YES I will be posting before and after pics, when im done.

Cheers

I think if I was going to carry the theme into the engine bay, I'd do something like a gold-colored chromate (not-shiny) kind of a finish.  The highly polished stuff looks too garish, IMO.:-\

I too agree with Rick, gold would look great, just not a "shiny" gold....... my opinion.......
