Hello....
« on: October 08, 2007, 09:35:05 PM »
Hi, everyone im new to this forum I have two project vehicles to work on, 1978 and 1981 T/A. The 1978 is sort of a one family owned vehicle; one uncle purchased it brand new at the dealer, his brother picked up the payments, then my father used it for years and now it has been given to me by the uncle that picked up the payments. :) The 1981 was purchased by that same uncle in 1990's and used only for a short time (few months), then parked, due to a worn out clutch. I want to restore both to really nice daily drivers, but i like the '78 the best. With the help of my father, both vehicles turn on, the '78 has most of the original paint removed to the bare metal, then primered and painted. This forum looks really helpfull and hope some of you T/A guru's can help me on my mission to bring these Birds back from the fire.

Details:
1978 Trans A/M - Orange-Red Paint w/red cloth interior
400 c.i.d 4-bbl V8 (currently has a small 77 firebird motor w/ 2-bbl v8 - the original is in the garage due to a value problem)
Automatic
A/C
Power Windows
Front-Disk Brakes
Posi
AM - FM Radio still works :D

Detaisl:
1981 Trans A/M - Black w/ tan cloth interior
301 c.i.d 4-bbl V8
Standard
4-Wheel Disc Brakes
Power Windows + locks
Cruise Control
A/C
Posi

comments welcomed.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you. But it is fun to breath new life back into the Birds! I also own a 78 and an 81. The 81 is my daily driver, and the 78 is coming out of the paint shop within 2 weeks. You've reached a great forum here, the people are definately Firebird and Trans Am lovers! There are many links you can pull from this website for parts, info., etc.

Thanks for the welcome....i see there are t/a all over the country. I like to see the different ways people have restored their T/A's from the stock to the old school/new school mix to the drop top custom :). Any info for the Houston, TX area (repair/ rebuit / retore shops, catalogs, parts, etc)? i know there a restoration shop out in dallas, can't remember the name.

Are you thinking of David Mars at Texas Trans Am's in Fort Worth?
