I like the way it says "Bonneville" on the window.

If I remember correctly, they only made 2 Bonneville Trans Am prototypes....I think the parts were going to be hard to come by so they decided not to make anymore.  And no T-tops.     ;D

To make it worse, the VIN is for an '84 Trans Am 305 4bbl.

13 digit VIN's stopped after 1981.....Maybe he wants a Trans Am real bad and that's all he had on his mind when he was doing the ad.  I don't blame him for wanting a Trans Am...it's a disease and a lot of people are catching it.    :)

I contacted the guy.  He said he found a build sheet that proves that this is a trans am.  It was suppose to be an SE...but they stopped production of them as this car was coming down the trans am line.  It was also suppose to have the W72 engine, but the factory made a mistake and installed the base 400.  Oh yeah, he got the PHS documentation and it was suppose to have lots of features, but the factory left them all off.  All in all a very rare factory error.   ;D

Ok, first of all this is the 2nd time I've heard that story on this forum this week.

See this thread.

2nd, this still doesn't explain the VIN being for an '84. That is a 17 digit VIN with an "E" in the 10th spot for the year.
