It's butyal tape. It's just a think sticky tape that conforms to the glass and holds it in place.

What??? You don't put it on the paint. It goes down in the window channel.

Reviving this post.  I want to do some test fitting while my TA is stripped down.  I can't seem to find the gator grip moulding anywhere.  Does anyone know where I can get it?

Try a windshiled fitting shop, Ebay?

I know where i can get it here, but that doesnt help.

Any glass shop can get it for you. I also found it on E-Bay. If you do a google search it comes up that way too.
