Title: Here are some sad photos.
Post by: Tbird on June 04, 2007, 03:45:55 PM
These birds have been sitting here for over 10 years and they won't sell.  :'(
The blue one is a 77 400 4 speed.
The white one was a 73
Not sure about the Esprit.  ???

The white one under the tarp would appear to have been sold...maybe, say, back in 1981... :-\ :-\ :-\

I'm confused about the white one because it looks like a 70-73. It has the small rear windshield and 70-73 front end. That would have been quite the conversion.

No, that's right -- the curved back window didn't come in until 1975.

I know, I'm confused because Tbird said the white one was a 1978.

Sorry for the confusion, I didn't check what I typed. The white one is a 74 I think, I will try to get the vin again. There is junk covering the vin on the Esprit.

Why let them sit there and rot when others would take them and restore them?  I just don't understand that.

He said none were for sale except the 76 Esprit and the 77 Trans Am. I am going to stay on him about the 73, I want that.  ;D

That looks like a '75 next to the '73.  Unfortunately I didn't see any fender flares or front air dam :(

I have his number now, mistake on his part. I just have to be careful of a restraining order.  ;D
He said he has just about one or two of every year including several GTO's but he has run out of money to finish them. I am going to push to see if he will let several go so he can finish some of the other ones. I was in his shop in the pictures several years ago and he had a couple of stacks of honey combs and snow flakes with center caps in there.  I can't get down to behind the shop right now to get pictures of the ones out back with weeds growing up over them.
I will try to document all of what he has if I can then start working on him about which ones to sell.

Thats sad, That esprit looks like it could have been a cool car at one time, and can still be a cool car. I don't know why but the oddballs are starting to get me, I want a sleeper car. ;D

Well, those cars do not look like they are too badly neglected. They're all on pavement and don't have trees dropping things on them.

The Esprit is the only one I could see that could be considered a loss, but the others appear to be VERY solid.

:-\ I get really agitated looking at photos of collections like that, makes me wish I could just go in there and say, Hey listen, I dont give a rats backside if you want to sell them or not, here's an open cheque for the lot, tell what numbers you want put on it.

The fact that they sit there with rotting tarps over them or worse, month after month, year after year is just so frustrating, when so many people would lovingly restore them and give them a good home.
We read on here so often, of guys looking for a project car and half the battle is finding one and getting the intial dosh to buy it.
Most of the time once you have a project car, at least you can start picking away at the resto, as cash flow allows.

Stay on his case Tbird, im sure he'll end up parting with some of them.
