Another Black and Gold SE...
« on: March 28, 2009, 10:11:46 PM »
Since I've been posting a little more lately I figured I'd show everyone here what I bring to the table. Some of you might recognize my car from being at the Bandit Run last year which was a blast! It was a cloudy day today in western PA so I thought I would take some new pics of my car since I heard thats when its best to take them on a darker car. Keep in mind this is an all original 76 that my dad ordered from the factory new that has been unmolested since. (Except when he drove it to a high school one day and came out finding the whole driver side door and front left quarter panel keyed beyond belief which was then painted shortly there after. Hope you enjoy!

Does this look like a black chrome splitter to you?

crappy 70s paint job after the key incident...

A little dirty inside still

and the unusual American T-Tops

theres more on my album page if you wanna check it out

thanks everyone for checking it out and the advice over the years!

Beautiful T/A you have there . I'm confused ,which T tops do you have ?

i seen one pic ,and  I think it was the keyed inccident . That should be considered a felony if you do that to a T/A

As for the spliters being black chrome.... I would say.. very possible.. definately not your normal chrome finish. I have not seen a legit set of black chrome splitters but other black chrome pipes on custome bikes and I would say strong possibility. ( VERY STRONG)

Really?  I am negotiating on a 76 LE Hurst top car locally.  One of those my car + cash = his 76 LE deals.  We'll see how it goes.

Yes my dad actually is from Michigan. He grew up in Saginaw. My moms from Grand Rapids. They then moved to Wisconsin and had me and my sister. Then we moved to PA.

Its kinda funny that one chrome splitter has that dark tint to it while the other one looks like regular chrome. This was one of the last SEs made that year so im wondering if they were just finding parts wherever they could at that point. Jim Wanger asked us if it was actually a 77 body. haha

Thank you everyone.
And as for comparing it to Hammers car... There really isnt much of a comparison except for the name and color. His car is perfect. Unfortunately, I have some fading issues in the paint, carpet, and decals.  Hopefully when I finally graduate from college and get a job maybe some money can go towards that.

Drew - your car is one of 1628 with an auto/400.  1095 of those had hard tops, 533 had t-tops.  Of course, you knew this.

Now, your father ordered this car new.  How rare is it that you'd know everything about the car's history?  How many of these do you think are still around?  Yeah, this is a family heirloom - take care of it as such.  Everything you describe is cosmetic and minor.  It's all there ... that's 90% of the battle.

As to the guy who keyed it - if you know where he lives ... I know a guy, who knows a guy who has a friend ...

You both have aftermarket American tops, which practically makes your cars twins!  How rare is that?  Was your car originally a Hurst top or a hardtop?  Hammer's was originally Hurst.

Very nice, I wouldn't touch it and keep it original as far as the splitters go it is the black chrome I have seen a couple of cars with these on but it has been awhile.
