I have to ask something that everyone else is apparently assuming here.

Is that '72 350 you have a Chevy or Pontiac 350? (Or for that matter Olds or Buick? lol)

I believe its a pontiac 350.  Engine code is YV and the stamp on the cylinder head is 7H1.  I think its a 1972 175 horse pontiac 350.  If its something else please let me know, I got plenty to learn here.  Also does anyone know what a rear end that has GM33 stamped on it is?  I haven't had time to track that info down yet.

No, sounds like you're right. It's just that everyone started talking about not wanting to see a Small Block Chevy in it.

Not sure about the stamp on the rear end. Is there one with a "P" and another letter on the front side of the Pass. side axle tube?

Ahhhh, no one ever said he had a Chevy 350.  I don't know how you came to that conclusion.

"The general consensus with this group will be to go with a Pontiac engine over a SBC.  The whole world has done SBCs to death.  "

"Welcome to 78TA! I agree with what Rick is saying though...spare your bird the shame of a SBC "

"build it to soot yourself if you want a 350 chevy motor in it paint it blue and pretend that it is a pontiac "

"Put whatever engine you want in the car.  Pontiac certainly didn't care what engines went into them.  The chevy 350 is, in my opinion, the best engine ever made. "

;)

As for it being a 301T, it has a YV block and 7H1 heads.

Thanks! you made my point.  No one said his car had a chevy 350.  It's just how YOU interpreted the comments.  You read that into what everyone was saying.
