I will, when I have time, go over the rest of this but right away I noticed an error. Box #1 has nothing to do with the VIN. The top number minus the first and last numbers is the Fisher body number. This is the number that is the last think on the first line of the cowl tag. It is assigned before any VIN at the Fisher body plant. If these numbers match the last 6 of the VIN, and the numbers are not 000001 than there is some hokypoky going on. The only time it could possibly be the same is if both were the first car made that year. If it is not the first, the bodies (making both Camaros and Birds) would be way off from the VIN (only birds) sequence. If one looks at the build sheet, they will also see this number under the model (also the start of the VIN) in box 8 and at the bottom of box 9. The last 6 of the VIN are stamped (not typed) in the larger area of box 9. See this copy of a 1979 Norwood Birds Build Sheet.
