According to my friend the Trans Am's with T-Tops have a 305 engine in them instead of the 350. I just wanted to know if this is true because I can't find anything on it online.

Right now I'm looking to buy a 98-99 Trans Am, and whether I get T-Tops or not depends on this.

Nope, that is not true. My 1998 Trans Am has the Ram Air 350 in it and I have the t-tops. So, your friend is wrong.

From 93 on up the 305 was no longer an option. They either had a v6 or a v8. 93-97 had the LT-1 (350) and 98-02 had the LS-1 which is also a 350(346 if you wanna be technical). I'd say your friend is misinformed......

Alright, thanks. I was just checking. His story was that the bar on top wasn't enough for such a big engine so they put the 305's in the T-top ones. He also said that from driving fast all the time it would cause the T-tops to leak? I sorta doubt that too.

Hey Revenga,
It sounds like your friend had come up with his own theory on that and it sounded good to him, so maybe he figured it must be true.....lol. If I were you I'd definately have to give him a hard time about it because there is absolutley no truth to what he says.

Well your friend is kind of right. somewhere back in the late 80's you could not get the manual transmission behind the 350 in a T-top car. All 350 cars with T-tops had automatics from what I've heard. But I think it was only like from 87 through 91 or 92.

I have an unrelated question. There is a 1993 Firehawk for sale by me listed at $7,200 and in excellent condition. Is he asking a fair price? If I do buy it I'll probably go there and offer $6,000 in cash. Do you think thats a fair price?

hey man check and make sure that is a true firehawk, those stickers are available, so see if the guy has the documentation before you lay any cash down.

Yeah, thanks for the heads up, but it is a true Firehawk. He has the document that shows it was altered by SLP.

The car has 78000 miles and he is asking $7,200 which I think sounds like a good deal. I'm probably going to offer $6,000 to start as I said before. What do you think?

Also, I was talking to my insurance company, right now I'm part-time under my dads car. According to them if I switch to full-time onto that car it will cost 200$ more every 6 months. And if we bought the Firehawk and my dad switched to full-time on that we would be paying $500 less every 6 months. Does this make sense? Is it possible to be paying less to insure another car?
