Need Help with Daytona 500 Pace Car

Hi Guy's, new to site and hope someone can shed a little on a question I have about the VIN on my 1983 Daytona 500 Pace car Trans Am  The cars VIN # ends in 001 Does anyone know of a site that might have information on the sequential numbers of the 1983 T/A ? I'm curious if this might be the first Daytona Pace off the line, or if it has any significance at all? Thanks much for any input or info anyone might be able to toss my way!
