I can't remember for sure and it will also depend on the size of your converter. Seems like I'd dump one qt. in the new converter before installation and three down the tube. Crank the car and immediately dump in four more qts. Shift through all the gears pausing briefly for each gear including reverse. Shift back to park and then usually about 1/2 a qt. to get it up to full. Chilton manual reads 7.5 to 8 quarts from 73 through 78 for a TH350
Do you have the right tube and the wrong dipstick or both the wrong tube and wrong dipstick?
