My car came from the factory with that same radio and the mic lead doesn't cross over the console like that.
You have the mic mounted in the right place but the lead should go under the dash on the passenger side of the console.

thanks for the info and pic.  that really helps.  does you car have the power anntenna?  I think Im missing somthing to make it work right.   I can send, but can not receive audio on the cb.   I pulled it back out Thursday before the Nats and had it tested. it tested OK for a signal. and sometimes you can here it but very faint.   

Yes, it has the CB-spec "Tri-band" power antenna that has the little module thing in the middle of the mast I assume is for the CB. There was also an antenna splitter under the dash, two into one deal leading to the antenna.
One for the AM/AM part of the radio and one for the CB.
