1979 Yellow Trans Am
« on: October 29, 2007, 12:31:30 AM »
Can anyone tell me how rare is the yellow 1979 Trans Am? Also,
If possible how many were made that year. I'm really curious.
Thanks......Norman

Nice to see something besides black once in awhile ;)
I believe that color is "Bright Yellow" (code 51). They did not track production numbers by color though so no way of knowing how "rare" it is...over 117,000 T/A's built in '79 (highest production year)

Nice bird! ;D

Also looks as though someone switched out your '79 gas door to an '81 (with the bird)

I actually like yellow more than any other color on these cars.  My dream is to have a yellow formula with the black and orange graphics on the bottom of the doors.  I think that makes a sharp car!  I love the black but I like something that jumps out at you and gets noticed.

Since I have a ragtop 1979 Trans Am, and collect all kinds of plastic Firebird models, I want a yellow Formula ragtop, just like the plastic model I have of one.
I did see the real car in Compton once, got a photo of it, but the car drove off.
This was quite a few years ago, and I doubt it still exists.
When I saw it, it was kinda beat.

Yellow is suppose to be the least produced color in the entire firebird series...first through fourth generation.

Yours is a great example of a rust free California car.
