I have a 1977 Formula Firebird that I bought off a friend for $350 a month ago
The car was a runner before it went to sitting
The engine was unfortunantly got rained on since the shaker scoop was missing ::)
So the engine is locked
Anywho on to pics
You guys will have to forgive me
I'm a bit of a picture whore
Been sitting in a sand dune for about half a year or so

Hi Fried - welcome to the site.
I don't know where you are in TX (I'm in Houston), but I have a 400 tranny sitting on my floor that my wife has been tripping over for the last year - I wouldn't mind getting rid of it dirt cheap. It works fine; I just swapped it because I wanted a 700R4 in my SS. Drop me a line if you're interested.
-
I'm unfortunately quite a ways away from Houston.
-
Another BIRDY saved!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!
Welcome to the site!!
I'm on of the gals here!

Will hopefully get around to sand blasting the frame this weekend :D
-
I notice that you have scattered sockets like me. There really should be a garage maid service we can call after tinkering.
-
Done blasting the frame!

ehhh grind them off you'll be ok. they probably didnt want to go through the extra effort of putting them on with springs in the way?
-
I'm thinking they had a SBC in it at some point in time since those are SBC moutns.
They must've swapped the Poncho in when they got rid of it and thats what the figured to do to make the Poncho work with the SBC moutns.
My guess atleast.
-
Looking great! I like watching it unfold when parts start getting cleaned. I am going to follow this one, too, I am enticed by the LS1 swaps you guys do on these, might just want to try it some day.......

Finished sanding down the quarter panel and truck and threw some primer on them
Also smoothed some rough areas on the bumper as well
-
wow what a sweet deal for only 350 bucks it sounds like you are turning her into a beast of a machine. Keep up with the photos, she looks good.
-
Ugh this spot. Everytime I look at it and try to figure out a way to repair it and blend it with the original body lines it just discourages me lol
(http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/Americanmetal071/IMG_4019.jpg)
Hell I have a rocker thats 75% gone on the other side and it doesnt get me down like this spot does. rofl
-
Hey... HIJACK! Is the John Deere for sale?
-
Rofl no
Got that for free :D
Runs great too!
-
Thats my price range. U were lucky. im looking fir a 332, 322, 318, 455 etc. Something that needs wrenching on.
-
best would be to cut it out and use a good doner piece
-
Only good plan I can come up with
Couldnt even see any possible way of using body filler there rofl

There's an aftermarket patch for that... I did both sides of mine. Starts at the rocker and ends right about in the middle of your slide hammer holes. You could fab a 2" extension on the top to cover those too.
These are a pics are from last year...the panels were just "roughed in". That whole section came off with the flares...rust city!
