value of my 78
« on: August 12, 2012, 12:23:07 PM »
Okay so you have probably seen my ad in the for sale section and I should have done this in the first place.  What is your opinion on the value of my car?  Its real reliable car hasnt let me down since I got her back up and running.  Anyway here is my ad.
--------------------------

Pics are about a month old
There is ZERO rust on the car
Selling my Trans Am.  Numbers matching T/A with a rebuilt 403 and a rebuilt TH 350 automatic transmission.
A/C completely redone and working!
-New Flowmaster 40 Series w/ X-pipe and Hooker super comp headers.  Whole setup is new.
-New carpet and headliner as well as seat covers.  Kept all original.
-Engine was rebuilt about 11k miles ago.  Bored .030 over with a mild cam and comp cams roller rockers.
-Transmission was rebuilt same time as engine with a shift kit.  Cant even feel it shifting its so smooth.

Little background.  Car was bought a few years ago from a guy who had kept it in storage for about 25 years.  Immediately started the rebuild.  Was always a California car until recently.  Registered in Oregon and is now staying in Arizona for the next year or until sold.  Wouldn't say it has been a daily driver but it has been driven a lot. (~12k).  Has always been cared for.  My reason for selling is that I cant give it the attention it deserves here in Arizona as I no longer have room to work on her.  Really don't want to see her go but Id rather give her up knowing that she would go to a better home.

I'm asking $11k and as always if your'e interested I'm sure we can work something out.  I can also provide videos of the car or send any pictures upon request.

imo, should have been gone at $11k another .02 the car would look a lot better with snow flakes and it is hard to see the paint job, looks pretty good but appears to need a wet sand and buff

I agree with joe, should have sold by now as it sits but if you put some 15x8 snowflakes on it she would bring more interest.

High teens. 11 is a very fair price. The market is kinda slow though. And I agree, some snowflakes would help. I prefer 15x7's myself

Thank you for the replies.  Put my mind at ease.  I will look around for some snowflakes to put on.

Also, take the stuff out of your car for the pics.  When I see a numbers matching car advertised I expect it to look extremely clean.  It's not a mess or anything, but the extra stuff hanging down and on the seat detracts from the picture.

I'd say pricewise your in the neighborhood or even at the low end of what you can get.  Question is, "How fast do you want to sell it?"

Hey Paxter I will do you one better!  There is a set with tires in E Mesa for $250 with Tires and bet you could get them for  less?!  I am pretty sure they were gold but don't quote me.  This car is a very nice daily driver and would gladly drive it around for the $11K asking price.   I have seen this car in person driving around and it is very clean!

Thanks guy! I'm going to clean it up a bit more.  Oldskool thanks for showing me those snows in mesa.  Look into getting them.  About how much would it cost to refinish a set?

Local I would guess in the 250-500 range depending how much work they need?  I have a buddy who could powder coat them and he said $150 but he hadn't seen them so I don't think he realized how much taping and work they are so even at $300 would be a deal!

Talked to the guy and he said there is no curb rash on them and look pretty good.  I'll have to go and take a look. Also said they were gold.  If I do get them I will take them to your buddy.  Thanks again but if you'll excuse me I'm going to go wax the bird:)
