I order a drives door decal with my Vin# and the weight of the car. As there was no decal on the door when I bought the car I had no reference for the weight. What the seller used for the weight seems high? Anyone know if this is the correct weight?
Thanks!
Pat

I was reading your great thread here and see that you were wondering about the 4810 lbs. figure on your door decal. I don't know if anyone explained the weight figures on the door decal or not. I think alot of people don't realize that the GVWR number is NOT the weight of the car. GVWR stands for Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. It's the GM recommended maximum amount of weight the car can carry, including the weight of the car plus a load of passengers and cargo and fuel, etc. The GVWR is the sum of the other 2 numbers which are GAWR, meaning the Gross Axle Weight Rating. Those are the GM recommended maximum weights that each axle can safely be loaded, and added together amount to the GVWR. Your car probably only weighs about 3500 lbs, but could carry up to about 1300 in added load.

ALSO, your new door glass.....where did you get your new door glass? And how do you like the quality and fit? Thanks.

Steve,
Thanks for the GVWR weight info

The new glass I use was from Pilkington and it fit perfect and the quality excellent! I put each piece on top of the original and all the holes lined up and they all had the same shape. See the links below for the glass link.
Thanks!

Hi Pat. Thanks for the link to Pilkington.com. The link isn't working, but by going to Pilkington.com, I found the number to call. I've used a couple of Pilkington windshields and I've been very happy with their glass. That's great to hear how good the door glass is too. I guess the color was right too? And do you remember about how much they charge for a door glass? Thanks for your help.

Steve,
The color was the correct green tint for this year. As for the price I think I paid $850.00 for all 4 pieces.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! I’m not sure about a 100 point show car; it’s just a fun home garage build I shared with my son. That's the best trophy for me, time with my son!
Thanks!

Thanks Pat. That's reasonable. I suppose you had them put the correct logo and date codes put on them too.
