1979 Trans AM SE mufflers
« on: May 30, 2018, 07:37:52 AM »
Anyone know which mufflers made today are the closest to the originals in respect of similar "loudness" and "growl". My restoration guy put on 2 1/2 inch mufflers that are so loud that I can hardly hear my passenger or the radio! There must be a really good original sounding muffler out there (P.S. I don't have any catalytic converter parts on this car).

dynomax super turbos are comparable to factory sound.  do you have headers?  if so they will make the exhaust louder than factory regardless of what mufflers are used.

Loudness and Growl? Not on a factory exhaust. The 2.5" system will already change all of that, and no doubt any other mods done. Just go to the local exhaust shop and tell them you want quieter muffler/s, it's what they do.
