Shaker scoop drain hose

In a post by Tin Indians Rule about a far more serious subject recently the above were mentioned in a manner which leads me to think they may be VERY hard to get hold of.  I need one.  Am I looking for the grail?  :?

There was one on ebay over the past weekend. I watched it for a week. Bidding war started with 5 minutes to go. It went from 20.00 to 107.50 when it ended. I gave up at 90.00.
If somebody would repro these hoses for the 403-400 cars, they would clean up!!

No kidding, somebody could make a fortune on a product that seemingly wouldnt be that hard to produce.
I was going to bid on that one too, but it jumped out of my price range.

Yea, I checked the guys history that won the hose. Seems he has a history of snapping up rare, desireable parts then reselling them. I lookeds at some of the stuuf he bought in jus t December alone and it supports the theory. I also think he was running a sniper program because,  I'm reasonably fast, but couldnt beat his dollars.

I run a sniper program for my auctions.  Mainly because I don't have the time to sit there and watch and keep hitting the refresh button.  Other times it is because the item ends late at night or sometime when I am not going to be home.  Other times I run it because I am forgetful and don't remember to go back and check Ebay for a part that I wanted.  So I use one, but it is mainly for the ease of it rather than trying to beat someone in the last second.

You could do the same thing with some copper tubing and some regular hose. Just slip the copper tubing into the hose, bend to shape, and cut to length. What you're doing is using the copper tubing to hold the shape for you.

Probably a heck of a lot cheaper to do this yourself then get a repro unless you're looking for a points restore.

I know someone did this on TAC but I can't for the life of me remember who posted this up so if anyone knows feel free to shout it out and I'll give credit where its due.

I would be careful on that hose.  It looks to me like a straight piece of hose which you can get for a couple of dollars at your local parts store.  You need length of 20.5 inch 1/2 ID.

I would also make sure that the fitting is 1/2 inch because it looks to me like the one the guy over on TAC was selling, which I think is 5/8, which is too big to fit in the shaker hole.

Details, details......

Is there a chance that since Ames makes several aftermarket parts that they'r testing the water for demand? How many years have several of the big resto house vendors offered the repop dash for 70-81 TA's and they're never available.

I'm by far no authority on F-body cars so I'll throw this question out here since it's drain hose related.

I'd say we all know there were at least two different hoses installed on TA's. One without the molded curves to route around the intake/valve covers, etc and one that was molded with curves.

Which cars got the curvy hose?
What's she wearing now? Come on!

I know for a FACT the 403 motor hose has bends. Right now im using 1/2" I.D. hose cut to 20" long. I took a coat hanger and ran it inside the hose to copy the bends, Can you tell looking at it, NO! I just wanted a real one because mine fell off on the way to TAC2 last year. Its on 95 somewhere between MD and NC. LOL
