Door hinge pin question
« on: September 14, 2008, 09:29:22 AM »
I purchased new pin/bushing kits for the door hinges. I cut the pin on the upper driver hinge in two and removed it, knocked the old bushings out but when I went to put the new bushings in, the lower bushing hole was fine but the upper hole is quite a bit smaller. All 4 bushings in the kit are the same size. Has anyone else seen this? I did a search but thought I had read where someone else ran into this.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

The original bushings are 2 differant sizes. Did you get the pins and bushings from a gm dealer or are they aftermarket? I had the same trouble with the parts store kits and ended up just getting them from the dealer.

I recieved them from fbodywh.. I e-mailed them and they do not have a kit with smaller bushings....Sounds like I may have to go to the dealer...

I could be wrong, but I thought I saw pin/bushing kits with two sizes....and they said one wouldn't be needed.  I'd send that kit back to Fbody.

See this.  It says these are standard size bushings and if you need oversize bushings see the other auctions.  They're cheap enough to buy a set and see if they work.  You may have gotten oversize bushings.

I knew I saw kits with both regular and oversized bushings.

This is better than drilling.  Hope this works.

Im not sure what the over size thing is about but I think I will just drill it. As long as I start out a little too tight and work it, it should be fine. Thanks for the information, Troy.

well, if you want to get it done quick, run to your autozone, advanced auto parts, they sell an assortment of bushing in the HELP section, for cheap, one is sure to fit, cause almost all pins are the same size...
