1/18th scale Trans Am die cast recommendations
« on: January 03, 2009, 02:25:54 PM »
I was wondering what the members here recommend for  quality 1/18th die cast Trans Am's.

I see this one all the time ,and I don't know if theres a better version than it . I find the headlights and tail lights are a poor attempt ,but it's better than nothing . I wish I could find a Canadian distributer ,but as always all the good stuff is in the States .
I want a black SE ,and the TATA for sure .
I think ERTL does not have the quality and detail of some of the other companies reproducing the 79's that I have seen

Well, the Franklin Mint makes one as well.

You can check out some of the other ones I have here:  http://www.78ta.com/diecast.htm

I do have more, but I have to take more photos.

I seen this one from Franklin mint ,and it is with out a doubt the most accurate representation of an SE yet . I read the article about how a 77 T/A owner let them measure up his car for it .
The only part that I wish I could change is the fact that I collect 1/18 th scale . But you know ,I should try and find one of those regardless ,it sure is sweet. They are a fortune now though ,at least the one's I seen on EBay.
I have this gut feeling you have an extensive collection of all things Trans Am Brett lol

I just found one from the Franklin Mint on EBay Brett . Pretty tempting .
As I mentioned I really only collect the 1/18th scale ,but this is an exception

Well I think I rounded up one die cast model . Cali is about as close to BC Canada as I am probably going to get . The Guy has good feedback too . Anyone dealt with this ebay store?

I get alot of my diecast from this site.  I see someone has posted the 1st gen page from this site.  The Trans Am page has a bunch that are due out in a couple months.

Greenlight is the only company out there doing any Firebirds right now. Exact Detail probably has the best detail wise.  ERTL did some nice birds too.  Seems like there are not many new Firebirds coming out though, other than Greenlight.  If you are into Mopars or Camaros, then the market it great for those, but Firebird fans really have limited choices.

Well I got my bandit today .the same one pictured above . Gotta say it is a little disappointing ,as the hood does not close all the way . it kinda stays up a bit at the front .Maybe I can carefully bend it without breaking it right off lol . no more models for me unless the made by Bburrogo . Either that or super gue the dam thing down .who needs to see the engine anyways

I would sooner pay 150 bucks for a better quality T/A ,instead of having this  happen . Come on Franklin mint ,make a 1/18th scale !

I looked on the Franklin Mint website and nothing came up. Do they not make it anymore?

Actually you can find the 1/24th scale  Franklin Mint Trans AM  on Ebay . I kinda wanted a 1/18th scale though .Its such a shame as the one they make is so superior in quality  .I am very disappointed in the one 1/18 scale I bought . The hood doesnt close all the way down ,kinda sits up a bit

Ebay is a good place to find diecasts, if you know what you're looking for. Something else I do is find sellers on Ebay that have online stores. Sometimes the better deal is on their website.
