Some Birds at SEMA
« on: November 06, 2007, 10:11:10 AM »
As some of you know, I went to the big SEMA show last week.
The biggest aftermarket show in the world.
Every year in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kinda why I can't go to the TA Nats every year.
Try getting a room in Vegas during this show.
Cheapest room is around $179 a night!
Anyway, here are some photos of some of the Birds at the show.
Hope you enjoy!
Here's a '68 Firebird, with a clean 6 banger.

How about a clean clone '69 Trans Am, with a Butler built engine?
I did get alot of photos of this one, but I'll only show a few.

These were the first gens that I saw.

Hope you like,

The guy who did that custom 69 posted over on TAC.  I wasn't too sure about the idea from the concept drawing, but the actual car turned out very nice. ;)

Oh how I'm wishing I'd kept my 67 Sprint OHC 4 barrel after seeing that 68...but mine surely wasn't even in the same league with that one!  :o 8)

George,

Did you get any shots of the silver & green 79/80/81??? Saw it on another board but the photos were really small so I couldn't make out the details.

HeHe!
Ask, and you shall recieve.
Got tons of them, as I talked with the builder for quite awhile.

I thought it was a very nice custom Trans Am.
I want Lambo doors for my car (my modded '81 Turbo Trans Am), which the guy said cost around 3 grand.
Alot of work went into that car, for the show curcuit.

I even got some photos of the Ban III at SEMA as well, but I have to upload some more photos.
I tell ya, my photobucket has tons of photos in it! ;)
Also, before everyone starts slamming the car, SEMA is all about the aftermarket, from engine to body, to interior mods.

Nice. I'm not too fond of the color but I know Aimee would love it. (She has a coat that same color green. lol) I'd like Lambos for one of my future T/As too. ;)

Strange thing about that.
The same guy was there for three days in a roll, yet no business cards.
I asked.
And yes, it was from New York.
They trucked it out for the show.
You would not believe how much business shops get from showing at SEMA.
Yet this guy had nothing.
I didn't even see a badge on him.

The car is cool, but the green color???  It just reminds me too much of that lime green that American Motors painted their Gremlins...and the same color plastic purses girls used to carry back in that period...NOT my favorite color.  Some sort of blue mettalic would appeal to me more. :-\ :-\

Gee Rick,
I guess you don't like the Mopar colors? ;)
I do admit, they are notice me colors.
But then again, so are our cars. ;)

Now,
here is a Bird of Prey!
Painted up like  P-40 Warhawk.
I'm not to keen on the colors, but I do love the nose! ;D

It does have kill markings of rice.
Here's my favorite view:

George, I guess Mopar colors are OK on Mopars...but back in the day I got a little tired of them (they were everywhere, not just on Mopars) and they don't get me all warm and fuzzy these days.  I agree, they are "notice me" colors but some of the people who wore them weren't the kind of folks you'd particularly want to notice -- because once you did you wished you hadn't.  Personal problem, I suppose... ::) :P

George, that camo T/A is pretty cool. I think the paint job might look better on an older model, but the theme is cool.  8)

I really like the body work on the 2nd gen and the silver, but the green just doesnt do it for me.
Im sure it looks much better in the fleash though as photos never do justice to any car.

Id love to go to SEMA one day, A few years ago I was a national sales rep for a big car audio importer and they were going to send me there, but that fell through at the last minute, when one of the directors decided to go with the sales manager and take his son instead.
His son didnt even work for the company, after things like that happend a few times, I left.
