Do u think it will become a collector's car or a classic in 7-10 more years? Would it be in bad taste to make this bird more like a tuner car? I have several more years of service left, i dont have
-
much else to daydream about. =) So how many 02 FB V6 automatic, grey cloth interior, Navy Blue Metallic exterior did they make? I've always heard you can tuned (mod?) a v6 to be faster than a v8 , but
-
I mean I think they all have the potential to be collector cars, but I don't think there's anything wrong with messing with it to your tastes. When you say tuner, are we talking big wings and body kits or are we talking muscle engine mods, tint, bigger rims etc? Tuner to me is fast and the furious knuckleheads. With these cars, it's basically taboo.
As far as it being a classic, I think the 02 is a better classic candidate than the third gen t/a's. To me at least. The last year is definitely going to be sought after when it's all said and done I think.
As far as the engine, I mean, if you get real excited, you could swap in an LS1 maybe or any higher powered V8. Most guys will steer you away from Chevy, but I don't see anything wrong with it. For resale value, anything you do will affect the amount of money you will get out of it. However with that being said, I would keep the rims you may swap out for new ones in case, keep any parts you take off and store them, and document everything that's done and keep receipts. Common sense. Stuff like suspension I can't see as being a negative as far as upgrading, but it's not a bad idea, to keep all the old stuff just in case..
-
not tune a v8 to beat a v6. i dont know if thats true at all, something about the air intake and super charging. Also, whats with the paint bubbles on my roof? Pics in the gallery under same usexname.

whoa thats pretty awesome man. im impressed i googled i promise but didnt find anything like that. My car is "rare''(er) than i thought. I like the f&furious cars, but i didnt wanna say it lol
-
this is what i spendmy day thinking about. changing the interior cloth into a blue suade leather, and beefing up the engine to a v8, maybe even to one of those that sits ontop the hood? lol
-
looks like your roof got very hot, or someone painted it and wasnt very good at there job
-
a really nice custom paint job, but i dont wanna be the douche who ruins a classic car. guess i'll buy another to play with. I'll customize one all to hell and pay someone to restore the other.
-
basically i have 30,000 to blow, i love cars, especially ta's and the wide bodies, i may not know how they run whats in them, but i respect and fully depend on those who do. =)
-
The roof was definitly painted before, and they did NOT prep it correctly.
-
i wonder why it had been painted over? maybe it had little paint chips and the dealership had it touched up? (incorrectly touched up) i wouldnt put it past the sneaky sob's.
-
If you paid them for the job, then that's definitely NOT right. No paint should have bubbles in it. There's nothing wrong with tweaking those cars, just make sure you save all the original stuff and store it away and keep it all clean. I always like leather/vinyl better than cloth, but it does get hot. Tint that thing up and cool it down. Maybe look into new rims/tires, upgrade the suspension etc etc. If you have that much money to mess with I bet you could really get a nice motor for that one/do the suspension and maybe get yourself a 2nd gen t/a project for the hell of it. I do like the navy blue, those are slick cars for sure.
Or, if that's going to be a daily driver, if you're interested in 2nd gen t/a's I would get one of those to play with and tweak maybe for a pro-touring car. Those engine swaps are way easier than messing with newer cars for sure. With the newer ones you have to deal with computers and all that. But I like the way yours looks. Nice color and I bet it's fun as it is. But ultimately it's up to you.
-
well when i say to blow, i mean spend. I still have four years in the Navy, so anything can happen. with that being said, i may be absent in the forums for about a year or so, dont delete me please =)

My Economics teacher this past semester was in the Navy flying some sort of recon plane. He's in the reserves now and goes to Norfolk every weekend. Commander Knaff! Pretty cool!
-
also, i saw custom paint, like UV activated, Ghost pearl, incadensant, candy, matte... i've seen most these in games like need for speed underground, but im afraid to take the chance of it being awful
-
House of Kolor has some crazy stuff too.
-
what really got my attention was the UV activated. Have you ever seen this paint up close, or seen it in action? also has anyone had any experience with fiberglass interior?
-
Never heard of UV activated or fiberglass 'interior'
-
Photochromic paint i think is what its called. See: paintwithpearl.com
-
i visited House of Kolors, thier gallery of cars layout looked identical to the layout of Hitman's gallery. lol. and google fiberglass interiors, seems pretty cool

Whoa that's weird. Pretty interesting!
-
glad i could spark an interest, if u decide to toy with it please post pics and keep me updated ;)
-
if i had 30k to "blow" it would be on paying off debt or paying down my house. 30k into a car been there done that lost all of it too.
-
your roof is a factory defect, you have to replace the entire fiberglass panel that is there, what it is, is the factory glue that holds on that panel was made funny, so after sitting in the sun and getting hot it bubbles up and will eventually come through leaving glue spots on your paint......gm had a technical bulletin writeup about it and actually covered it under the rust/body warranty, but denied mine when i took it in with the bulletin saying they had to do it....
