Here is the 1980 T/A that I bought about 8 months ago. I am restoring it just because. No rust, perfect interior. Just a few dings that I can't live with. Besides I own a restoration business and I want my car to look great at the shows and show my work (calling card). I am replacing the 301 with a 76 T/A 400 with mild build. Under the hood will be basecoat/clearcoat black and all stainless body bolts. New suspension etc. All of the panels that are off of the car in the photo have been blasted, body work done and painted. I should have it done by winter.

Nice car ... and floor.
-
Welcome to the site . Sounds like it's going to be one sweet looking T/A when it's complete. I like your engine swap idea alot
-
How about some more pics?
-
hmmm i'll take the car and your shop thank you very much.
-
Are you going to keep it the same color? I am a huge fan of the white car and blue bird! If you can't tell! :)
We all can't wait to see more pictures!
-
Yes it is going back white, but I haven't decided if I am going to put the blue bird back on or do something different (my wife likes the 70's stripe up the hood, roof and trunk in blue). Also the picture was taken in my garage not the shop. I will post more as I procede. Thanks for the compliments.
-
very sweet. welcome to the cite. what kind of rims are on it now? you going to put the snowflakes back on it
-
They are 17 inch torque thrust. I haven't decided what wheels I am going to yet.
-
Here are a couple of more pics. I have decided to forgo the hood bird and paint the 70's 2 tone blue and black stripe on the car. So far I have painted the trunk and hood scoop. The hood is next.

Well I have been busy at the shop restoration shop(not my car) so I havent done anything on the T/A in weeks. But I did manage to paint the hood this week. Plan on bring the car to the shop next week to tear down the suspension.

Sharp looking - can't wait to see it all put together and finished up!
What type of door cover do you have over your garage entrance in the first pic?
-
They are sliding screen doors. Most of the houses in pasco county have them.
-
Just delivered this 57 Bel Air to the owner last week after a 10 month frame of restoration. Now restoring a 57 nomad for the same owner. Check out my website for more cars that I have done. http://www.classicautorestore.com

Here is a 73 T/A clone I had I sold 4 years ago. Frame off restore with a 400 engine. Boy do I miss that car. Also here is a 71 Buick GS clone I built and sold 5 years ago. BUILT Buick 455 with Lunati "HEMI KILLER" cam and 150 NOS. Boy do I miss that car.
[attachment deleted by admin over 60 days old]
-
both are very sweet lookin cars.
-
Both are very nice, but I LOVE the Buick.
-
OK sorry I haven't posted my progress lately. I have painted the roof , both quarters and cowl. I have also pulled the rear suspension, fuel tank and subframe. Everything have been sandblasted and painted with por 15. The underside was cleaned ( 1 week of scraping) and painted base coat clearcoat black. I have installed the subframe back in the car with all new energy suspension components (front and rear). The rear end and fuel tank will be installed by wed. Waiting on the 400 engine to get finished soon.

If anyone is interested in having any bodywork or paint work done on their cars, let me know. It's what I do. I can even come and pick the car up on a trailer. I don't care if you don't live in Florida. Check out my website for more info.
Thanks Tom

Well after looking at the stripes I painted I decided to make them stand out more. So I put a silver stripe between the midnight blue and black. Then I outlined the black.

I agree the accent really makes it work .Thats a very interesting paint scheme ,good job
-
Hey, Man, really enjoying the pics. Very unique paint scheme you've got going there. I always liked the one strip look of the early T/A's and it looks like you've pulled off your own rendition quite nicely. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Your car is looking Amazing! Awesome paint job!
-
Well here are some pics of the engine. It will be put on the dyno this week and broken in. Then I will bring it to the shop and paint the engine before the install. Also I installed the new aluminum radiator and fan setup on the car. My metal fab guy at work made the radiator support for the car. Of course I will pull off the core support to drop the engine in.
[attachment deleted by admin over 90 days old]
-
Wow things are really progressing with your project . I actually like the color of the engine the way it is lol .
I am with everyone else here ,can't wait to see her when shes done
I was wondering what you have done to the engine ,is it stock or did you mod it a bit .And what are you expecting for HP and TQ
-
76 T/A engine, 60 over, forged piston, double row chain, Ram Air III cam, 1.5 roller rockers, eldelbrock intake and carb and Hooker headers. Stock bottom end. All ARP bolts. I will see what it has after the dyno runs.

Almost there. I will be putting the front facia on wed. OK Dave it also looks like I will need a different shaker. Mine is sitting about a 1/2 inch to far forward.
