yeah this one is confusing me too....i think he's asking what transmission is in his 403 t/a & if it can be mated to a 5 litre chevy.

if that is the question, then you most likely have a th350 trans in the t/a with the 403 & that would fit a pontiac engine too as it has the "bop" (buick olds pontiac) bellhousing.  this trans will not bolt up to any chevy engine as the bellhousing bolts are different.   they do make an adapter plate for "bop" to chevy conversions.

if that isn't the answer you were looking for please try to re-phrase your question because the one you posted doesn't really make sense.

With that question, are you asking if the 5 speed manual transmission used in the 3rd generation Firebirds with the 305 engine could be mounted behind a small block Chevy (SBC) 350?  The answer is "yes", as the 305 engine in the Firebird was actually a SBC design (the GM "corporate" engine).  In fact, the bellhousing would also bolt up.  HOWEVER, you need to know that 5 speed gearbox wasn't the strongest in the world and that's why it was initially released for use only with the lower-output 305 engine.

If that's not your question, then of course that answer doesn't do you any good. ;)

the 403 is a T350 BOP. 81 305 T/A is a S-T10 will mate to a 350 stick. or third gen T/A with a 305 is 200r4 or 700r4 I forget, will mate to 350
