Does anybody know how big of inch rims you can put on a 78 trans am? Thanks let me know.

nothin bigger than 15X8
unless your going with the year one 17X9's

Once you cross the 17" mark you're heading into Matchbox/Hot Wheels/Johnny Lightning territory. Or to put it another way...you'll be "donking" the TA.

I know that would be sinking but I would it be possible to put 20s or so or would tht affect the trans am in some way or is it even possible at all?

I would worry about clearance issues in the wheel well, and if it will fit at all. I think it will because somebody just did that to his TA now that I think about it.

I think someone had 24's on theirs, everybody hated it and their was a thread insulting what he had done to it, but its possible.

i have seem them on 26's in my area but that one had been lifted. there is one at a car lot on 22's here with stock suspension

The biggest I would go would be an 18" beyond that it looks to much like a hotwheel. But to each his own, it's your car do what makes you happy.
