rear end question and Gear ratio's
« on: July 08, 2010, 11:27:51 AM »
Ok.  My axle has the code for a 3.23 gear ratio

when I spin the wheels they both turn.  (posi)

I spin the wheel once and it turs 2 full turns and just over 1/2 turn.

my ratio is not a 3.23 and that is why it is so doggy off the line.

I dont really want to run a spacer and I can only assume I have a 2 series carrier.

Im thinking a 3.23 ratio and a 3 series carrier is what I want.

Here is a picture of my rear end.  Is it 8.5" ?

I'm really not a car mechanic.  I want to order the gears and carrier, but im not sure how to go about it.  I dont want to order the wrong stuff.... again lol

Can I get this as a complete set?  Is there anything else I should replace while I have it in the shop?  Should I get a cool chrome rear end cover?

If you can link me to the exact page I will buy today.

I went with Jegs and I got the Auburn carrier and 3.73 gears and the complete install kit.

I bet she will light em up now!! ...   well after I get it installed she will.

I almost went with the spacer but because of what you have said in the forum I spent the extra and got the Auburn http://www.jegs.com/i/Auburn+Gear/109/542018/10002/-1

So my dumb mind is asking this...  Is a Carrier and Differential the same thing?
