78 T/A door problem resolved - update
« on: June 12, 2006, 01:00:18 AM »
Thanks to all of you that helped me with the door on my T/A that I couldn't get open.  Here's a link to my original post on the subject.

http://www.taspecialties.com/php/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1070

I was finally able to get it open after soaking the latch down in spray lube and using brute force from the inside of the car by kicking it open while someone held the door handle up.  Only took one solid kick to pop it open.  Once I got the door open and the panel off, it was obvious that the factory lube had hardened over the years causing the latch to stick.  Cleaned it up and re-lubed it.  Also made a minor adjustment to the striker in the door jamb and now it works perfectly.

Thanks everyone for the help!!

I bet it felt really good to give that ^#*&  door a swift kick after all the agony it's caused you.  Glad you finally got it.

Man.... you got that right!  I was kind of stunned when it popped open.  I didn't realize it would be that easy.
