That's how it was when I bought the car.....It didn't have a radio, plus it was cut, so I put in a CD player....front seats torn so I put cheap covers on.  I bought a console lid cap but it's so nice looking that I'd have to redye the whole interior to make it match.  Replaced the distributor, water pump, starter and solenoid, alternator, snowflake rims, new tires (less than 1000 miles on them)...bought an aluminum intake that I never put on....Just a decent running project car that's going to need a home when I redo the heads on my K5 Blazer.   ;)

I had a 91 k5 blaze with a tbi 350.  It started getting rust pretty bad so I let her go.  Have you thought of a price for the TA?  How soon do you think you will put it up for sale?

I plan on placing an ad in the Wichita paper and asking $3000.00 or best offer....with extra parts (used aluminum intake, console lid cap, auto shifter and cable, new water neck, misc Holly carb parts)...A buddy I work with wants it and says he'll give me $2500.  I told him I wanted to check my options first.  I don't think he has a place to keep it so it would sit outside...He wants it for a project car for him and his 2 sons.
As soon as I get the heads back from the shop and get them installed on the Blazer plus finish assembly, I'm going to sell the 78 TA and part out whats left of the 75 TA (no front valance or spoilers)....approximately 2 weeks if all goes fairly well.

No, Rich....I promise....I know those pieces are the most sought after....Before I found the Y88, I was going to do a complete restoration on the 75....I looked everywhere for those items...when they came up on e-bay, they were very expensive....I heard bad stories about the valance from Danko (fiberglass model) on how much you had to do to make them fit, so I stayed away from them.  And once the Y88 came, I decided to part out the 75...the body has alot of rust issues including the floors.  When I posted about the 75, I wondered if you would get a kick out of it.     ;D

Update:  One of the heads off my K5 Blazer had two hairline cracks in it so I decided to replace the whole motor....I should have the Blazer running by 7-27 and tagged and titled.  Barring any other issues with the Blazer, I should have the Trans Am for sale one week after that.  If anyone is interested I can have more pictures and will give you a phone number for contact so I can answer any questions.  Just send me a PM or email.   Thanks     Willie

Have you been under the car lately?  How does it look?

Might have a buyer...   :)

As far as rust issues...there is some surface rust.  Nothing rotted out....very solid.

There is a light seal leak on the transmission, so there is fluid stain on the frame.  I only have to add 1/2 quart about every other month.  Nothing drastic or I would fix it.

I was going to make this car a Bandit Clone.  But I found a Y88 project instead.

I also have a 75 I'm parting out or whole....High performance 350 SBC....bored .030 over, roller rockers, rough idle cam w/rebuilt TH350 tranny, if you know anyone who is interested.  Front bumper, hood, header panel, lower door panels, and possibly inner fenderwells, and that's about it.  Body and doors are pretty rusty, glass is no good either.  Some small misc. parts.  NO TITLE FOR 75 TA

I would sell both cars for $3200.00

Thanks to everyone for their interest in the 1978 Trans Am....I sold it to an 18 year old who wants to use it as his daily driver.  I sold it to him for $2000.

I went to go sign over the title today, and it felt wierd to see someone else driving, what used to be, my Trans Am.

I'm gonna miss that car.   :'(     It drove well, lasted a long time in this Kansas weather, and never got hit by another driver.

I kept the horn button medallion for the memories.    ;)
