Site Suggestion?
« on: June 15, 2010, 12:25:02 PM »
Maybe I haven't found it yet..or maybe it doesn't exist...but I was thinking one way to help some frequent asked questions is to upload whatever diagrams people have and stick them in some kind of section where a user can click on which trans am/firebird they have and what year.. I understand there is a search forum feature but I figure there might be a good bit of this stuff floating around that people are not aware of.
I'm trying to find a vacuum diagram for a 1977 trans am 400 engine with the 4 barrel carb automatic. (has a Z in the vin #)
it has a miss in it's idle..and when we try to connect all the hoses to the correct areas (or what we think is correct), it idles like a kitten, until you tap on the gas (not necessarily hard) and let off then it just stalls out on me...also the transmission wont shift and it starts to rev a little hard at 35 mph. I'm quite sure that this miss is in the vacuum lines because everything else has been timed right, the carb is a fresh ordered rebuilt quadrajet and the engine has been rebuilt.

is there any diagram on here that can help me?

I don't know however, you can purchase the wiring diagrams and the catalogs from the Hitman's store.  They will have just about everything you need about your car....

I purchased them for my '75 and the wiring diagrams were awesome.  they come on CD and you can print whatever you need to take out to the garage.

That would be a ton of info to try and cover all the necessary info for all years and models but it is available on CD here for each year of production:

A factory service manual is nearly a necessity for the owner of a classic car.

That is something I have thought of for the website is starting with common diagrams to post up there... but it is a TON of work to get that done and organized.
