Kingman, AZ show
« on: October 11, 2007, 05:05:39 PM »
Hi all,
I had a big carshow/airshow/drag race here at the Kingman, AZ, airport, over the last weekend.
I volunteered to help direct traffic and park cars.
Last year, we had around 93 cars, with the temps over 100 degrees.
This year, we had 70 degree weather, and over 350 cars!
We had to close the gates around 2 pm!
This was the biggest show they ever had!
We were to get a B-17 bomber, but it broke down in Phoenix with 2 engines needing rebuilding.
We also had one B-25 broke down, but we got 2 of them.
We had a Zero, a Hellcat, a few P-51s, as well as a Spitfire and a Seafury.
The best ones I like, were the F/A-18s and the A-10.
I was so busy, I didn't get to go see the planes, and Sunday, they were not able to go up too.
Even when the Air Force guys tried to get me in with my car, to take photos.
I tell ya, give a little guy some power, they turn into Gods.
Sheezzz.
I wanted drag race, but my rear main leaks, and they said no racing for me.
Damn thing leaked when I started using Mobil One sythenic
No one in town wants to attempthe fix, so I may have to go up to Vegas to a Buick GN shop.
Anyway, the air show rocked big time!
The drags were OK, not great, I couldn't race.
But the car show was good, even if there were only 3 Firebirds there, including mine.
Here's mine with a plane that rocks.

Here's the other Trans Am, which I tried to buy when I moved into this town.
Some other guy got the money before me.

None of the Birds won.
This picture is pretty cool, I like the reflection:

This town is more into all the old rods/cars.
No biggie, as I was talking all day with everybody.
Now, besides Trans Ams, I am partial to Caddys.
Check this one out:

There were of coarse many Mustangs, beside the flying kind.
They had classes for Camaro, Mustang, Chevelle, El Camino, Vettes, just about every car except for Firebird/Trans Am.
There were tons of Vettes and Mustangs for sure.
I didn't get many photos, as I was working so much, however, Lisa got a few, which I am showing you.
She volunteered as well, and I tell you, it was alot of work.
But we both are glad we did.
We may do it again next year as well.
Here are one aircraft to see:

Seems she (Lisa) took all the aircraft shots with the video. :)

Enjoy,

Love the Warthog!  That's one impressive aircraft!

Great pics, George!  Thanks for volunteering to work and lending a hand.  These things just don't work without volunteers and it's guys like you who step up and make them possible.  Thanks for posting! :) :) :)

OK, got a couple more photos loaded into my photobucket.
So, I'll post a couple more for you all.
Here's what I want for my tow vehicle:

Another shot of my display:

One cool thing I have for my car (which is car #231 out of all the ones built, which is also my engine size):

And, for you plane nuts:

Hope you like,
